Color Updates

Since it has been awhile since the last update on painting I thought I would do a post updating progress of current re-paint projects. Let's start with the two most recent Stablemates that have been completed. First, the CM Endurance Arabian SM, I re-sculpted the muzzle and mane on this horse, here it is complete:

The other recently complete SM is a silver dapple or chocolate on the Friesian.

Some of you will recognize the next one, it's my Classic Andalusian stallion CM to grey dun Fjord gelding. Here is the painting progress so far:

Last but not least, here is my progress on the Classic Halfinger mare to a dark bay.

Standardbred racing reference

The people of my hometown have been without a racetrack since 2008 but recently the much anticipated new track has finally opened. This Saturday was the official opening day and the weekend was filled with races. I started working there as a camera operator in the winner's circle and after a bit of training and my first full weekend, it's pretty much one of the best jobs I have had.

I am also able to take pictures between races which is awesome for reference so I thought I would share with those of you who read this. This year the track is racing Standardbreds only but there is hopes of securing a contract for Thoroughbreds as well next year.

There is a huge variation in tack for each horse so it is interesting to see new gadgets. Earlier in the day some of the horses had these ear sock thingys on, perhaps it was for the younger horses, I will have to investigate further. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

New English set

Hello,

Here is what I've been working on in the past few days:

It's a traditional scale (1:9) saddle brown close contact style english saddle built to fit Breyer's Giselle.

Now it is looking like this:

I am also making a raised brow and nose band english bridle to go along. Last thing to make to complete this set is reins.

This set will be for sale once complete, comment for more information!

Backwards Breyer

So, I bought a horse off the internet last week. Being a big fan of Classic scale, I have been wanting this mold for awhile but when he arrived in the mail I realized he was a bit more special than I originally thought.

The ad said the bridle was a bit off and it looked broken but I wasn't buying the horse for the tack so it didn't really matter to me. What I soon realized was the bridle was actually put on backwards by Breyer.

Here is another view:

I thought I would share it, has anyone else found mistakes in Breyer's packaging?

So here it is, the finished classic scale western pleasure saddle you had a peek at last post. This saddle is for sale, you can email me if you would like more pictures/info (info@yellowbirdacres.com). I will be making a matching bridle for the set before it goes up on modelhorsesalespages. For now, enjoy the pictures!

Looks great on the Classic dun Quarter Horse.
