Blingy Bridle

Here is what I was up to this week- bridles to fit my dressage saddles. Now, bridles aren't my favorite thing to make, I much prefer to make a saddle. I decided to dip into the Swarovski crystal for this one. A raised nose band and blingy brow band later, here are my results:

I also made a brown one, pictures to come.

Vacation photos!

Since I have one more day of work until I can resume saddle-making I thought I would share some of the horsey pictures I took while on vacation in Nova Scotia. My cousin has three horses and we took a trip out to visit with them.

When we got out to the field, the horses decided we could use a walk, which was fine by me because we got a really good view.

We had company on our walk too.

When we reached the top of the pasture, the cows were really curious about us.

We made it to the horses!

We then walked back down to the barn.

Little mini saw something up a tree.

Then the horses said "Adios!".

Back from vacation and two saddles complete

I am back from a lovely vacation to the east coast of Canada and I spent my first day back finishing up the two dressage saddles I was working on. Here is how they turned out:

All that is needed on these saddles are girths which will be completed next week. Here are some close up shots of the black saddle:

Here are close up shots of the brown saddle:

Both of these saddles were made to fit the Strapless mold by Breyer and will be for sale in the future.

RIP Delta's Kaliko

It has been a difficult week at Yellow Bird Acres as we say goodbye to one of our closest friends and mentors, Delta's Kaliko. She passed away peacefully at the ripe old age of 30 and she will be missed by those who knew her. She was a special horse to a little girl and her memory will always live on, we were so glad to have the privilege of being together for 18 years. On to greener pastures, until we meet again Kaliko.
